Triton Mens 1s made it 16 points from 18 at the beginning of the season with a 4-2 success away at Oxton. Triton weathered the storm early on, as they became accustomed to playing on a slow pitch, but really came into the ascendancy from around the tenth minute for the remainder of the first half. Mikey Calam went close, flicking into the side netting from close range, before a host of chances where a little more composure was required from the men in orange. Martin Gregory finally found this, lifting over the goalkeeper from close range after a bit of pinball in the Oxton circle. It was two a few minutes later, as Tom Statham stole in at the back post to deflect Chris Cooper's ball into the circle into the net. Triton now looked in full control but took a 2-0 advantage into the break. They again started brightly in the second period, but things got sloppy from then on, with Oxton getting one back. The match took on a different complexion, with Triton struggling to get out of their own half and living dangerously. However, a 5 minute spell led to two quickfire goals for Triton. Tony Stevens got off the mark for the season converting at a penalty corner, before Gregory got his second as the ball fell to him at the back post for him to slot under the Oxton goalkeeper. There was still time for Oxton to set up a nervy last few minutes as they got a goal back, but Triton settled for the three points and host Bebington next weekend as they go into a run of fixtures against many of the top half teams.
