Hard Fought Away Win by Ladies 1's

In a tough encounter the Ladies' 1s took on Lymm who had also won its open two games. The start saw Triton pressing hard for the opener with skipper Vicki Bennion dominating the midfield. Charlie Rutledge went close and other chances went begging or were saved by the Lymm keeper who was in good form. Lymm counter attacked on occasions but eventually Triton took a deserved lead when Alex Halliday found a narrow gap at the near post to score. This gave the visitors a lift and a second arrived with arguably the goal of the season so far. Darcey Pawezowski found Lucy Salter who sprinted passed her marker, she drove to the baseline to beat the centre back before cutting back to Hannah Spears who fired home first time. Another swift counter attack saw the Lymm centre forward 1v1 with Emily Statham but a cool sliding stick save stopped the attacker.

The second half saw Triton attack predominantly but the goals to finish off the game didn't arrive. Eventually Becci Jones forced the ball home from close range for her first goal for the team after more good work from Salter. Lymm had its best spell in response and from a penalty corner pulled a goal back with a lifted effort. Triton responded and more pressure on the D saw foul play deny a certain fourth goal for the visitors, Halliday flicked the resultant penalty high into the netting. The game finished with Triton on top and thwarted by the hosts' keeper on some more occasions. In fairness it wasn't a display to match the team's previous wins but one full of grit, determination and sufficient quality to overcome a determined opponent.
